I have noticed over the past few weeks the activity of my albino pacman has been declining. He is so puffy I can't even see his front legs anymore. I am concerned he is retaining water. I have him in a 10 gallon aquarium with ecoearth substrate and I feed him dusted crickets with calcium. I spray his enclosure every night and he has a shallow water dish to sit in. He goes in it every once in a while but I haven't seen him in there in over a month. I feed him about once a week about a dozen crickets. He at the last batch I put in last week. I have no idea what could be causing this but he seems so flimsy. I am concerned he will dieThis is the first frog I have owned.

12 crickets once per week in nowhere near enough nutrition. Also do you dechlorinate your frogs water for misting, substrate, and water dish?
1. 10 gallon glass aquarium with mesh lid
2. 1
3. 70%
4. 75 F
5. Reverse Osmosis
6. eco earth
7. Tub for soaking with less than 1 inch of water, bark cave, substrate
8. medium size crickets (no wings)
9. Exoterra calcium dust
10. no direct lighting, gets indirect light by being next to my other cages, (also glass)
11. heating pad on side of tank, space heater set to 75
12. 1 week ago
13. no, I haven't seen poop in a while. ( I did try a soak last night and did not poop then either)
14. Pics in first post
15. 6 months? Was a baby when I got it size of a quarter.
16. 6 months
17. captive
18. have feed crickets as main diet and on rare occasion very small horn worms but it has been a few months size I fed those I buy a dozen and when they are eaten ( usually about a week) I put in another dozen.
19. Only handle to clean the cage
20. It is in the corner of my bedroom (low traffic)
21. change water when it gets dirty from use but since he hasn't been going in it I don't change it often, dump out all substrate and rinse cage 1 time per month, mist with water every night to keep up humidity
Hope this helps
Update: he has not moved from the spot I put him in last night after his soak.
You temp is too low. Needs to be 80° to 82° during the day. 78° at night. Your water is literally killing your frog. RO water is okay for misting, but will actually leach tbe vitamins and electrolytes out of your frog. Use dechlorinated tap water.
Go out and buy some Unflavored Pedialyte and make an 80° bath of Dechlorinated water. For every 10 ouncea of dechlorinated water add one ounce unflavored pedialyte. Soak the frog for 20 minutes per day. The bath depth needs to be only half the height of the frog or chin deep.
Welcome to FF and sorry your frog is not well. Your frog might recover if you take Colleen/Jerrod advice and correct the water/temperature issue now. Pacmans that have been kept in too cold environment for a long period develop permanent kidney and lymph hearts issues. The edema your frog presents is a symptom of that and even though it can get better once temperature gets up, the organ damage is permanent and will shorten your frog's life. If edema is really bad and does not let frog use it's legs; might want to consider a visit to a veterinary with exotics/herp experience to have vet drain the fluid.
If you used R/O water for mixing the soil; need to replace with shredded coco mixed with dechlorinated tap. The water dish should be cleaned out daily even if it looks unused.
Try and get some plain (no dyes) night crawlers at Walmart or a bait shop. Can cut them to frogs length from pointy end and offer to frog by dropping in front and see if it will take them. Also, can try tong feeding by lightly rubbing worm on frogs lips. If you can find Fluker's ReptaBoost locally, recommend dust the worms with it during the first couple feedings, to help nourishing your frog. After that can go back to a regular dusting schedule: http://www.frogforum.net/food-feeder...schedules.html. Good luck and let us know when frog starts eating again and edema gets better.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I changed to baby water. No fluoride or sodium. I have well water with softener salt so I can't use my water out of the tap which is why I was using the RO water. I did a pedalyte bath for 20 min at 80 degrees. I added a heat lamp to get the cage up to 80. I couldn't find reptiboost so I rolled a worm in calcium with d3. He did not eat it but he is probably aggravated from the bath. I left it right in front of him and will check back later to see if he eats it. I also sprayed the substrate with the baby water. The substrate is pretty dry so I made sure to get it very damp. Thanks for the help. I will update you on his condition. Hopefully he will start eating again soon. He does not look any less bloated than before.
What is a baby water you are using exactly? It is not just water issue, it might be vitamin deficiency too, you used only ca/d3.
I really really hope he will get better, but it seems his condition is pretty serious, I would find a vet ASAP and take him there.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
The pedialyte baths seem to be helping. His legs are less swollen and he is more active. He is even swimming a bit in his baths. I still cannot get him to eat though. I tried rubbing worms on his mouth and I've tried putting them in front of him and turning off the lights hoping the dark would make him more comfortable. Do you have any other suggestions to get him to eat? He doesn't even seem interested. The water is water with minerals but no chlorine. I add reptisafe to it just incase.
You might try crickets. My guy responds better to insects than to worms. Just break the back legs of the crickets to give him an easy time catching them.

Should be feeding for around 15 minutes 2-3 times a week. These guys don't overeat, so he will stop when he's full. I personally use calcium every feeding and multi-vit once a week. Always allow a day inbetween supplements.
Keep feeding crickets, but don't give up on nightcrawlers. I used to feed crickets & locusts mainly but have noticed since I switched to nightcrawlers as a staple, they starting eating much more in quantity and pooping seems to be easyer for them.
I have a simple system, I rinse the worm in dechlorinated water, I dry it off with my towel and then toss it in a tiny container with a tiny amount of supplement, shake and feed.
I had a few who refused them too in the beginning, but now all 6 of my frogs happily eat nightcrawlers and even seem to preffer them.
Calcium should be used every other feeding and multivitamin like Herptivite once per week. You don't want to overload his system with calcium or he will get edema. Calciumi an electrolyte so it can cause an imbalance if the frog gets overloaded with it. Multivitamins can cause toxicosis or vitamin toxicity if given too often. So follow the schedule mentioned here.
You can place some of the Pedialyte water solution in his water dish, but it must be changed everyday even if he does not enter the water. Electrolyte water breeds bacteria once it sits out for a day.
Sadly I think my frog has died.He never seemed to fully recover the first time he got sick. I was feeding him crickets and he is in a 10 gallon aquarium with moist not soaked eco earth. Dechlorinated water with a shallow bowl cleaned regularly. Had a half log hide out that he stayed in most of the time. He never seemed to move around much after he was sick the first time. He didn't bury himself like he used to either. He just sat there and did go after crickets but not with much effort. I could never get him to eat the earthworms.
I was on vacation and had left instructions for my sister to take care of him while I was away. I came home today and he had a hard outer skin. He was moving and responsive so I soaked him in a warm pedialyte bath. I think I may have accidentally drown him :'(his eye are sunk in and he is limp. I changed the water, rubbed him. Have him in front of a heater to keep him warm and no response for about 20 minutes now. He appears to have some mucous on him. I am so upset he is the first pacman I've had and I have tried so hard to get him healthy again but I don't think he got over his first sickness.
Im sorry for your loss. I don't think you drown him. I think it was his time and he waited for you to return home before he passed. Any that I've lost have done the same. Don't blame your self. You did all that you could and he is no longer suffering.
I'm very sorry for your frog's death. Kidney damage due to low temperatures is irreversible and although frogs can recover from edema; their lives are shortened. When you get another one, please ensure the enclosure temperature stays at 82F with a few degrees drop at night. Good luck
!
