I've got a happy group of four ADFs, 2 females + 2 males, and they've been pretty randy lately. They live in an under-gravel filtered 10-gallon tank and are generally very well nourished. There are so many eggs in the tank lately (and the ADFs love huevos for breakfast!) that I'm wondering if they might get sick from eating so many? I suspect that in the wild they would not have so many readily available... And I continue to feed them once a day.
Chloe, Olivier and Emily.
I have successfully bred ADFs from conception, but have no desire to reopen the nursery at this time...
Hello and welcome to FF ! I would cut back on their feeding while they are eating eggs. Overfeeding and food leftover in tank can cause a water quality problem in your aquarium and invite bacterial and fungal populations .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Thanks for the caution, Carlos. I am very mindful of taking out uneaten food after every meal, but will have to find a balance between what I give them and what they find for themselves. I certainly wouldn't want them to munch on moldy eggs, though...
