Default Tank is added, Frogs are in there, Now I want to add plants

HOWEVER with no substrate with that be in an issue? I want to get sand , as that's really the only thing small enough I trust not to impact the frogs(like gravel). BUT IF ANYONE KNOWS THAT SAND IS BAD TOO, LET ME KNOW. Also, brands of sand?

I have an idea of what I want for my plants and saw the really helpful article about weighing down plants, but then do I put them in the sand? If not are they "safe" not being buried and absorbing the water's nutrients.

And speaking of nutrients, are there any plant "helpers" or fertilizers that will not negatively impact my frogs.

By the way these emoticons need a "face-palm" one. I'd be using it right about now.

Also IS sand a good substrate for them? I'm thinking of how they can be prone to kicking.

I use caribsea moonlight sand, works fine. However adding sand after the fact is kind of messy. It's better to add the sand when you first set the tank up really.

Yeah, I had figured that, but I found some tutorials for adding sand/gravel on youtube. The trick seems to be to have it semi dry(after washing) and then fill a cup half way with it, with the other half being water, then you can more freely dump it.
I may leave the substrate to a bigger tank, when the little guys get a little larger.

I am mainly concerned that I now want to grow plants but am unsure of how to go about it without the substrate!
I have heard of people using unglazed pots from hardware stores, but are they really frog-safe? @_@

By the way the frogs seem to really like their new environment. They alternate between swimming and squishing themselves in all sorts of weird places. They can be rather amusing to watch.

Also I technically have substrate, with that being very large river stones, but I don't know how well a plant could hold up in their before being quickly uprooted!

Terra cotta is perfectly safe. I would use new ones, not older ones that may have had soil that contained fertilizers and stuff.
