I was on my way home from work when I stopped in to one of the local pet stores and saw a label 'pixie frog', which I think is a different spelling. But it was hiding. It was when I returned again to, in a cave in the exo terra it was in. When the lady working there moved it up the frog hopped like crazy and scared her silly. He/she is about 4" from snout to vent I'd guess and a dark green color. The setup didn't look very warm and just had eco earth, a cave and some moss. I was tempted to get it but I still want an ornate pacman. They are supposed to have a voracious appetite right?
When they are growing, Pixies can eat a lot. Even when full grown a male GABF can go thorough lots of night crawlers and insects each feeding. Pixie is a name used for all species in the Pyxicephalus (African Bullfrog) genus. For more information on them can read this article: Frog Forum - African Bullfrog - Pyxicephalus adspersus - Care and Breeding.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks Carlos :-) Just what I was looking for.
I just wanna say that while pixie frogs are known for voracious appetites, some of them are very picky and difficult, same goes for ornates, so you might be disappointed if that is the only reason you're getting it![]()
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Although genus needs a DNA based taxonomic review; here is the latest on it if interested on the current status: http://www.frogforum.net/african-bul...us-status.html.

well not the only reason I want an ornate, but if they are fussy maybe I'll stick with a green pacman. Why are they fussy? Do they just refuse certain foods?
