It's finally, yes finallllly, time to build my vivariums. I'm surprised my frogs aren't holding up real estate signs by now, lol!
I'll be building my two dart frog vivariums at the same time. One for my cobalts and one for my imitators.
My plants have been quarantined for 6-12 months, lol! Yes, not exaggerating. And my, now plentiful, collection of maponi wood has been bleach-soaked, rinsed several times, soaked in extra-dechlorinated water (twice), and then baked
. I know...over-kill, but nothing's too much for my babies
.
I had holes drilled into one low side of each tank for a drainage access tube and am ready to silicone them in.
I am finally ready to create the vivariums.
Being all major events in my life have currently passed, I should hopefully now have time.
I'll have questions for the plant kingwhen the time comes about using the titebond technique since this is new to me.
I'll update as I build.
Thanks for reading.

About time!!!! Slacker... :P Can't wait to see how this turns out!
Seeing all that wood piled in the oven made me laugh!![]()

It actually smelled really good cooking, like a fresh campfire without smoke
.
They should make a Yankee candle in that scent...Maponi roasted wood, lol!![]()

... Or just campfire might do. Gotta keep the target market broad you know![]()
Can't wait to see this Heather. Love seeing builds happen.![]()
It's been longer than a year Heath! You got them at Hamburg, last October if I remember correctly! Lol
Can't wait to see the build! And keep tuned for a "theme build" from me after the new year

Lol!
Work for me, but I'll be back on Monday...maybe Sunday night if I'm not too exhausted from work.

Drainage hole drilled by local glass conpany.
Drainage access tube which can be siphoned or a hose may be attached. Now siliconed in.
The maponi wood I've chosen for this tank. A piece of wood will also be added to each glass side.
This one is for my imitators. They love to climb so I am creating a playground of things to climb and hop on. The bottom will be planted. I will add some air plants to the wood shelves and possibly some hygrolon and java moss. I have not yet decided if I will GS foam the background or not or go for a clean glass effect. I'll decide as I go.
So far...
Once the drainage access tube and wood silicone are dry I'll flip the tank to add the other wood. It's going to take a few days of drying for each side, so I'm sure this is going to take longer than I wish, but at least I've gotten started.

Thata gunna look awesome... if you plant it enough I think a plain glass background would look nice.
And ideas for misting/lighting yet?
Thanks!
I was thinking it might be neat. Might be too stressful for them though? They're super active and love to climb. They might not mind if I have enough plants.
It will also depend on the stability of the silicone holding the wood pieces onto the glass.
I have a new reptifogger for it. I'm thinking a 6500k GE light? Or a t5. Not sure yet. The 5.0 UVB reptibulb in over my gecko tank has the plants growing like crazy. It depends on the amount of light I can block with shade areas for the frogs.

Looks cool Heath! T5 all the way! Unless you decide to go LED!
I would plant epiphytes all over the wood and let them take over.
