Question Cycle halt? Detailed aquarium account

    1. Tank Size and volume of water in it (full, 1/2 filled, etc.)? : About 3/4

    2. Number of inhabitants including all frogs and any fish? : None

    3. Water source and any conditioner treatments? : Seachem prime (stupidly in the middle of the cycle) Not sure if I should use it during the partial water changes

    4. Water Temperature and how is it heated (if so)? It is heated with a thermometer on a fairly high setting (86 F, I believe)

    5. Water chemistry levels: pH; Ammonia (NH3); Nitrites (NO2); Nitrates (NO3)? Note that if you do not have test kits, most aquariums/pet shops will do complimentary tests if you take a clean water sample. : I do not have a Nitrites kit, but have everything else. My ammonia was at 0ppm, so I added enough to get it to 2ppm (frogless cycle)

    6. Describe any filter system including model and media? : Tetra Whisper ex 10/20 gallon for my 20 gallon[/COLOR]

    7. Substrate type?: Just some rocks.

    8. Tank set-up (plants (live or artificial), driftwood, hide outs and other decor? - How were things prepared prior to being put into the tank? : Two artificial plants that were being used by my frogs, and four live plants (amazon sword, fern, aquatic fern, and another plant I don't remember the name of.)

    9. Main frog staple food and any treats? I add ammonia as needed with two or three pellets of shrimp pellets.

    10. CA, vitamins, and any other additives used (how often)? N/A

    11. Lighting set-up and hours it's used? Normal light from room during day, dark during night.

    12. When is the last time frog ate? N/A

    13. Have you found poop lately? N/A

    14. A picture would be helpful including frog and tank (any including cell phone pics are fine). N/A

    15. How old is the frog? N/A

    16. How long have you owned him/her? N/a

    17. Is the frog wild caught or captive bred? N/A

    18. Any medications in the water (treatment dosis and for how long)? None

    19. Any salt in water (how much)? None

    20. Is the tank kept in a high or low traffic area? Mild traffic

    21. Describe tank maintenance to include water changes, cleaning, media changes, etc.) Partial water changes, but not too often. I'm following a guide for a fishless cycle.

Default Cycle halt? Detailed aquarium account

A few things I want to note:

Continue using prime on every water change. It is one of the best dechlorinators out there.

When you say you have an Amazon sword, fern and aquatic fern, please differentiate "fern" and "aquatic fern" please. As far as the amazon sword goes, that is a heavy root feeding plant and will require fertilization of some sort, preferably in the form of root tabs.

Using just room lighting will not be enough for love aquatic plants. Not enough light will penetrate the water without an external light source.

Then I will have to definitely invest in a light!
However, I should probably see what lights are best used for ACFs.

Also the one fern was simply labled a fern! I can post pictures, but probably tomorrow.

And I think the bottle even says that it won't halt a cycle. I'm just slightly paranoid that it will!

If you are not in favor of adding janitorial ammonia (frogless cycle) then what do you use to feed your bacteria?
