Rejoice, another thread about poop.
One (or both?) of my american toads have selected a spot for dropping dueces. It's on a rock in corner of tank next to a fake plant. Sometimes I'll still find poops in water bowl or in burrows before they collapse or get trampled on, but the other night I found 3 or 4 turds on that rock. And last night, another. I'm kinda happy about it. Less hidden poo to seek out.
Slightly worried they've gone crazy and think they're hamsters, or that i've been crazy all along thinking they were toads. The world may never know.
Was seriously considering buying and setting up a wireless webcam with night vision, to see where I should be digging for waste. I still might. Hours and hours of footage of sitting, burrowing, soaking, and staring off into space? Better than most poop on TV, I think.

* when I had hamsters as a kid, they'd designate corners for food, for a nest, and one for mostly just going potty, but of course they walk around pooping too.
I've never heard of toads designating areas for this. But I do know they like to push their tummies and booties against something to help get it out, so the rock, fake plant stem, and wall of tank is all probably useful.

Funny I never heard they like to utilize their surroundings for pooping. Makes sense, though. Better get some fake plants with stems, haha.
I've seen both of them sitting up there in the corner, and sometimes rock looks wet, pee maybe? That, I know they do all over the place. Could just look that way when humidity is high. It's a secluded spot, cuz the plant has large banana leaves that hang down and extend over the rock, which makes that area a favorite burrowing spot. Perhaps they like their privacy or knowing no one can sneak up on them while they're doing their business.
No idea, but i know i won't be changing or moving that area, as long as i keep finding gifts there.

Think frog owners are the only pet keepers with a "poop fixation."
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Probably. I have an older cat with some poo woes, but I don't post about it anywhere. Everybody poops, but we do seem to care a great deal about it when it comes to (from) our frogs.

LOL; My husband had a flashlight over the toadararium yesterday thinking he spotted an under-the-moss turd we should seek out. I think I'm infecting him with toadamania. Mine like to go on my lap, on the floor, or on the couch! At least I know they're going that way!
That's just normal. My tree frog does the same making spot cleaning way too easy lol
