    Default They are here!

I went ahead and ordered Fire Bellys for my first frogs and they came afew days ago! I love them. They like the water container I have for them to swim in and have fun playing in it and crawling in and out. I put some rocks in it for them to sit on.I put the Samstone I found on the dry land part. I dont know if the glaze used to write SAM has lead in it so I will keep it out of the water.

I love the little sounds they make, their voices are so soft and sweet. I heard one complaining when one grabbed another in the water. Does that mean they want to mate? If so I will take it as a compliment on my putting thier home together.Thank you to those who helped me choose. I am very grateful for the advise!

Congrats on new frogs Robin . Sometimes males grab other males and the sound you hear is a "release call" to let them know are not with a female. Can read more about them in here: Frog Forum - Fire-Bellied Toad Care and Breeding - Bombina orientalis and relatives.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thanks for the link. That care article is good. Whats also interesting is sometimes I hear the little sound and they are all seperate, nobody is grabbing hold of another. I guess I have a crybaby in the group?

Congratulations on your new pets!! I hope you enjoy them! They are wonderful starter amphibians in my opinion. Also, I have two fire bellys as well and I have them in a 20 gallon long with half land, half water with gravel and some fake plants, plus a filter in the water section. Mine seem to croak a lot too even when they are not hugging each other. I think they are just talking but I'm not to sure. I had my fire bellys for a couple of months now and they seem to croak a lot and to me it sound like their barking. So I would advise not keeping them in your bedroom, I learned that the hard way. I also never ordered any living things online, I think its because I live in a city and I have the three biggest pet store chains near me, like Petsmart, petco, and even petsuppliesplus. And please don't start that big argument over the way those store treat their animals, I heard enough about it. Silkmoth, I hope you have a wonderful time caring for your new amphibians. I know I sure do!!!
