As I have stated in another post I just obtained a new baby pixie frog. He/she is growing like one of those sponge animals you leave in water overnight. In 3 weeks he/she has gone from a penny to larger than a half dollar in size. I know that you cannot reasonably tell their gender until around 4 inches or so unless they croak. Just about everytime I touch him/her or try to move him/her (for cleaning purposes) he/she squeaks, does this count as a croak or do females vocalize in detest as well? PS when should these guys be allowed to "aestivate" I have deep substrate and I keep the tank moist and warm, yet he/she takes a good interest in digging a hole to the bottom. Could this just be getting comfy, or attempting to aestivate? Sorry to put 2 questions in one post
they should go under at about a year old.and females can make noises in distress so it can still be either.
And can you post a pic for my curiosity please?
Sorry the picture is on its side, but there is the he/she in question
Cute title and cute frog.
Good idea to remove the moss from your tank. Because they are aggressive eaters, they may accidentally eat the moss which causes intestinal impaction and may lead to death.

Yep, too young to sex yet and you need to take moss out. Pretty baby!
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
I took the moss out, force of habit I guess, I like to use it in humid hides for some of my other animals, I forget how easily little frogs can swallow up big things.
