I bought 4 firebelly toads online and they arrived the other day. I have two bulbs, plant light and a uvb light. The toads are hiding away from the uvb light. They move to the furthest end of the tank and stay there. Why? I have not read any other thread saying the same thing. Should I have a uva buld instead? What is the difference between the two bulbs besides one letter?
My toads seem fine otherwise, swimming, eating and exploring. Thanks very much, Robin in Maine.
Very few frogs get any benefit from UV lights and from your post; yours don't like it. Would remove the UV light and replace with plant light or maybe a red bulb if you need additional heat in enclosure.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
What type of uvb are you using
Exoterra reptile uvb.
2.0 5.0 or 10.0
It is 2.0.
Fire bellies have no need for a UVB lamp, like Carlos said earlier they don't like it.
