So last night i decided to buy a pacman frog. I dont know how to sex them so not sure if it a boy or girl.... Its about 2 inches maybe, and in a 10 gallon with a shallow water dish. For substrate i used the eco earth. So here are some of the pics (after the water dish pic i clean it so its freash water):
Any help with sex or tank ideas or breed of packman i have wuold be awsome thanks!!
Seems like a cranwelli to me, cute frog!
A 5 gallon should be ok, a 10 is more than enough. Large tanks can actually stress out smaller frogs, so I wouldn't I bigger than a 10 for now.
I can't quite tell the sex yet, but if it's a male a 10-15 gallon will be fine, a 15-20 for a female.
Be sure to treat his water and keep the temps around 80 during the day, 76 at night, and humidity around 80%, use a calcium supplement every other day and a multivitamin every week and you should be ok!
Can we get a picture of his enclosure?![]()
Nice Cranwelli.
Try not to handle him. They become extremely stressed from frequent handling. Babies should be kept in medium to large critter keepers because large spaces overwhelm them and cause stress. Also large enclosures make it difficult for them to capture their food.
you could get a small critter keeper and place it inside the terrarium you have. In a month, if you feed your frog right, it will be big enough for the 10 gallon.
Cant tell gender yet at that age.
do they borrow when they are scared or is that just what they do?
Haha thats a cute frogits to young to be determine if its a male or female wait 6-10months / on tank 10 gallon is good for the rest of its life with coconut fiber substrate have a water dish that it can soak in have fake plants if you want the habitat to look nice dont use moss. Feed it cricket main source you can also feed it earth worm 1pinkie per month 4 goldfish per month and mealworms for me mealworms is backup if i dont have time my ornate pacman has no problem with eating alot of those digest easily but some might say its bad cause of the hard shell of the mealworm. so that gl with yours

Nice looking frog cowis. I wouldn't feed it goldfish though they contain thiaminase that can be bad for your frog. A ten gallon will be good for your frogs entire life really. I blocked off half of the tank for mine when he was smaller so he could capture prey easier. Crickets, dubia roaches, and worms are great staple foods. I'd avoid mealworms too frankly. And wait on feeding pinkies until its bigger.
Thats true many owner are very picky and careful with their food but for me if they are able to eat it then it should be fine i tested it and nothing been wronged just dont get dirty looking dead disease fish but yea.heres my frog i had him for 4-6months i feed him large cricket 2-4 daily for 2 days skip a day feed it 1 wait for the poop then feed it more lol. then after cricket supplies run out i feed it goldfish guppies mealworms earth worm for about 2-4 days before i can go get more crickets dont wrong me my reptile store is far soo yea :P
Ok.. I'll say its probably a female.... 98% sure... but thats just my opinion
skull shape.. its hard to explain.. but after looking at thousands of froglets nightly over the last few years... I can give a guess sometimes, and I'm usually right if I guess... male or female.. if I'm on the fence then I'll say I'm not sure.. but this one looks female.
also this is with C. cranwelli
Ok, thanks Ivory. I was kind of assuming my Green Cranwelli was a female based on it's head shape, too.. Just from comparing the way she looks to the other female pictures I've seen around this site. I really hope it is a female.
I know what Ivory II is talkin about when it comes to skull shape. Its probably a female based on its snout shape. When I got my albino female I could tell right away based off of that alone, even though it was "technically" too early to tell. Its at 3.5 inches (around) now while my other frogs of the same age are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller. Their snout slope down significantly more also, plus they have been croaking, have loose dark throats and toe pads...which i didnt think happened so early.
yours looks exactly like mine!!!
So tonight i had to take ribbit back... he was sold to me with a broken leg..... he was walking fine but today he wasnt putting any presure on it and had it tucked in uderneath him. He also hadent eaten since i got him due to the stress and the leg. I took him back and got a bigger guy but doesnt have the red on him... so not as nice. But i love him non the less. His name is dozer because the first thing he did when i put him in the tank was hop over to my bambo plants i have in there and knock them over. As well i fed him and he ate right away so i am happy!! Pics to come soon!!!
Aww I'm sorry to hear that man, that sucks. Ribbit was a very cool looking little frog. Hopefully everything will be OK with Dozer, it's good to hear that he's eating right away.
Hi! I have a question .
Dose Packman forg can reproduct in artificial environment?
This thread is over a year old... please start a new thread (button located above the Pacman forum title) instead of bumping up a old one with a unrelated question. The answer is yes though, they can reproduce in captivity if that is what you are asking... The search function on here is great and I suggest you use it next time as you can find many answers through it!
Regards,
Bodhin
