Default How to lower temp for breeding?

Any suggestions?? And i cant use airconditioning because mom wont let me put it inside the house... Im from malaysia so the outside temp usually is about 27-29 degrees celsius and over 30 on really hot days... Can i like put a fan on top of the terrarium to stimulate estivation prior to breeding?

Hello and welcome to FF! Estivation is not triggered by cold like hibernation, but by a cooler dry season: http://www.frogforum.net/general-dis...ion-oh-my.html. A fan that cools the terrarium from outside might help a bit; but you would have to keep close monitoring on the humidity so it does not drop too low.

Recommend try to work around problem and schedule your "dry" season when your local weather is the coldest and days are shorter. Know some breeders trigger spawning with hormone injections; but have no idea what is involved in process. Maybe Colleen/Jerrod have better ideas and will post soon.

Sorry your Mom does not let the frog in, we usually keep ours inside in USA. Mine are in kitchen and living area and their earthworms are kept in the veggie bin beside potatoes, carrots and onions I eat. Think need adult supervision at home .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Don't use a fan; blowing air can be very harmful to pacs. You can't even keep them under an open vent if they're inside. It dries out their skin.

Hmmm.....I am not sure how easy it would be to monitor your frogs when they are kept out doors. It might be to dangerous to attempt a dry season change with temps that high. If the substrate dries completely the frog will die in Aestivation. This is a very dangerous task to attempt when inexperienced and if the frog in question is under 1 year of age. Using a fan would reduce the moisture levels greatly and cause the substrate to dry too much. You don't want to do that.

It would be best to wait until you are able to properly house your frog indoors rather than outside before attempting to breed.

You do want to mist lightly a couple times per day. You do not want the substrate to dry completely.
