Hi All,
My name is Ryan. Very new to the forum and somewhat new to the hobby. Since childhood, I've always had a fascination with frogs.
Amongst other critters, my children and I have cared for a wild caught American Bullfrog for about a year and half. We named him Baltazar. He started out at about 1" and is now about 6"+. Housed in a 40g breeder with about 6" of water. We feed dubias, crickets and about once every 1-2 weeks give him a rat pup.
We've been looking into keeping others and in our research found this site to be full of information. At first, we thought about keeping Darts but have read and been advised by 1 friend that they can be hard to keep. So we've decided to start out by adding some Pacman/Horn frogs or Tree frogs... are all Pacman frogs Horn frogs? Is care for them the same for the different types and morphs? How many Pacman's can be housed together? Currently we have a 150g build going, dimensions are 48wx30dx24t.

Hi Ryan, welcome to Frog Forum
Another alternative to dart frogs are Mantellas. They are small, very colorful and easy to care for. I have taken care of hundreds of them at the zoo. They are from Madagascar and mostly terrestrial and active during the day. Check them out, I think you'll like them.
All pacmans are horned frogs, but not all horned frogs are pacmansThere are some species of horned frogs from Asia and the Pacific Islands. That's why it is important to know the scientific name of the species you are keeping. Pacmans are for the most part solitary creatures, not sure how many can be placed in a large tank. There are many pacman keepers on this forum as well as those who keep other species. You have come to the right place to learn about frogs!

Hello and welcome to FF! Agree with Terry in that Pacmans should be alone, unless together in a rain chamber for breeding. Many Darts and Mantellas are not that hard to keep as long as you provide the right type of enclosure and correct parameters. Also, do research their natural social grouping. Some like being in groups, others do well in pairs or trios only. You can find more info on the Dart Frog & Mantellas or in the Care Article sections.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks for the warm welcome and info. I'll post pics of our critters soon.
Philippine's amphibians are not in good population shape and imagine they are protected locally and unavailable for export. If interested; best thing would be to study the local species and then see if any are available from other neighbor Asian countries. Can read more about it in here: IUCN - Philippines.
