Great, thank you for those tips! I've been wondering about a thermostat option. I know I am really going to need one come winter as the room the amphibians are in can get cool. I have the heat in there (main house heat) set to a minimum of 21 C using a digital thermostat but I'm sure it is still going to fluctuate a bit.
I'm thinking I'll put the heat mat on a thermostat and ensure that the tank is constantly at a minimum set temperature. I'll leave the ceramic heater on all the time. This should help protect him from temperature drops at night when the room may get colder. It will mean that the night/day difference may not be much at all, but I'm thinking this is the better option?
I tried a worm with tongs today...not luck. He just kept turning away from me. Then I put him in a small container with crickets and nothing. Now I"m getting really concerned![]()
They can really pick up our emotions, if you worried, frustrated, etc, they can feel it and react accordingly.
So collect all patience that you have and try again today and tomorrow and a day after that. Feed at night only, after lights are off and temps down.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Yes I'm going to try again tonight. There was a good sign this morning though. He'd moved out of his spot to a new one and left a massive poo in his place....so I know everything is functioning well with him at least :P
