Because they seem really cool. I didn't know they were protected, but people in America seem to have them.

Although not on the IUCN Threatened List; B. variegata is protected in the Netherlands and other European countries. They are already extinct in Belgium and only one population exists in some of the other countries. Your best bet at forum; is to post a thread in the Wanted section and hope that a U.S. owner/breeder contacts you. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks. I'll try it.

Mentat is correct. They are classed as least concern which is funny considering they are protected. There are barely any in the Netherlands and the population in the Netherlands are all in the south. Your very unlikely to find any. However the Apennine yellow belly toad (Bombina pachypus) is classed as endangered so I wonder if anyone has ever kept any of them.![]()
That's good to hear. I'm glad someone is helping them.![]()
True, they are cool. People in America can have them because it's not a native animal (if that's the proper term for it). I hope you can buy some from a breeder that bred them in captivity.
*edit*: I know I can buy them in Germany. I will be attending the Winter Terraristika in Hamm, Germany. But it's a long way to the US of A for a frog, it's a high risk package to send in my honest opinion.
