I'm doing some research on Pacmans, I have just a couple quick questions.
I found this pic on google from a Cranwelli search:

Is that a Cranwelli? (THAT is the Pacman I want) What defines the different morphs/species (you call them mostly species right?)? And what color phase (I think that's the term I'm seeing) is this one? Does the phasing refer to age at all? I'm coming from the world of mammals, balls, and geckos. I'm not too familiar with locales, phases, and things like that.
Also a small part of my interest in a Pacman or other toad is because I need something that will go to town on Dubia roaches. My colony is way too big for my five crested geckos and I don't want to have to dig out adults and sell them (iiick). I've seen roaches mentioned in Pacman diets but never as a staple. What do you guys think?
I'm enjoying the forum reading through the threads, y'all seem like a cheerful bunch and I'm excited to learn from you!![]()
All your albino type pacman frogs are C. Cranwellis. A lot of cranwellis go for dubias, however mine don't. If feeding dubias as a staple make sure they are gut loaded and dusted properly. Ide say that if you want a frog that will put a dent into your dubia colony get a giant african bull frog. The frog in the pic you posted looks like an adult female cranwelli. Its hard to tell without seeing the frogs thumbs though. Cranwellis have the most morphs out of all the pacman frogs. Including many different albino morphs. These frog forums are highly active with many many friendly people. There is a ton more care involved for a pacman frog compaired to a cresty or ball. These guys are way cool! And each frog has their own unique personality.
A giant African bullfrog is an excellent garbage disposal option - those things will eat ANYTHING, and get big and beefy. They're entertaining, but don't come in the colors that pacman frogs do.

I have an african bullfrog and I agree with Jen that they will eat loads, like as much as three pacmans. If you are interested in other frogs and toads that eat lots though then maybe get a Cane Toad. Mine was half the size of my african bullfrog yet ate twice as much.
I'm not looking purely for a garbage disposal! Haha. I definitely like my pets to be personable and usually pretty to look at since I can't really hold them much.
Morphs refer to different colors as well as patterns. Phases are forms of the same morph. Such as their color quality level.
Each species has different morphs and phases of each morph. C. cranwelli has the most morphs.
The picture you posted is an Orange Fantasy Frog which is a cross bwtween C. cranwelli and C. cornuta. This hybrid is sterile
There are 8 known species of Ceratophrys, but only 6 of the 8 are available.
