Can you get aphids?
I read somewhere is good food as well, even saw somewhere to buy, cannot find now.
Just wondering why they still don`t started to have more population , checking every day.
Guys, find not bad place in home, its a boiler room, temperature around him is ~23-27 C , maybe I can keep all my bugs there? Just one thing, its no windows there, or its don`t meter to flies, springtails and etc?
You don't need to keep fruit fly warm as they are native to the UK anyway. You can keep them at room temperature. Temps below 16 degrees mean the females won't lay eggs though so don't keep them too cold.![]()
But everywhere where I read including wikipedia it says if it 2C more than temp they breed quicker.
Drosophila melanogaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe shortest development time (egg to adult), 7 days, is achieved at 28 °C (82 °F).[5][6] Development times increase at higher temperatures (11 days at 30 °C or 86 °F) due to heat stress. Under ideal conditions, the development time at 25 °C (77 °F) is 8.5 days,[5][6][7] at 18 °C (64 °F) it takes 19 days[5][6] and at 12 °C (54 °F) it takes over 50 days.
You keep them in room temp?
Yes.![]()
