    Default Is Bob special needs?

This is my C. Cranwell, Bob. He seems to be doing well and he is eating and such. I looked at his legs and they seem OK. I am concerned that maybe his front left leg is not developed properly. I have been supplementing his diet with Calcium and Vitamins but he is a pet store frog and I am not sure how he was cared for prior to me purchasing him. I've noticed that he doesn't seem to hop very well. Is that typical for Pacman frogs? I guess it really doesn't matter much as I am not sure what else can be done but I would like your opinions none the less. Here is a video of him trying to hop out of his water dish. This is a normal occurrence and often I have to help him out as you will see I do at the end of this video. Sorry for the not so great lighting and quality. Hopefully you will still be able to tell me if the behavior is normal or if I should be concerned.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I would say that your frog isnt special needs, pacman frogs are sedentary so they will stay in one spot for a
few days. If you are still worried about his leg i would continue the calcium supplementation. Pacman frogs
really don't hop the best either

That does seem quite odd to me he can't get out if there on his own, it looks quite shallow. You could take a large (bigger than the frog) thin flat rock and place that in there as kind of a step to assist with getting out.

Agree with Mike in that the left front leg appears to have an issue . First thing would do is to replace the water dish with one of those "ramped" ones from Fluker's or similar. Second would be to ensure CA/D3 you are using is within it's expiration date (and store all opened supplements in refrigerator. Third and last is to watch for other possible MBD signs just in case (i.e. jaw gaps). If broken, leg should heal; but sometimes there is permanent damage or it could be congenital. Good luck !

Like mentat and matthew said, he probably should have some sort of rocks in his water dish so it can be easier for him to jump in or out. lol, i literally thought this thread was talking about me having special needs xD

I was once worried my frog was a special needs frog, mine has 3 feet, his back left one is missing. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to bother mine, he just takes very short hops and from the day I owned him, needed to be tong fed. (a dream frog) Today he's a very healthy little guy that I wouldn't trade for any money in the world, so I do believe that if you take the right measures, little Bob can have a happy life and your bond will strengthen because of it.

Everyone has provided excellent advice. Sadly there is nothing you can do for his leg except make him comfortable and provide easy access to everything. Not being able to get out of a dish that shallow means that both arms are affected. They can still hop fine with one arm injured so this makes me believe both are hurt or he has some kind of paralysis.

Thank you all for all the insight. I will see about making some changes to try to make things a little easier on him.

Ha.. it is. We are all covering so as not to hurt your feelings. The whole video is staged. Bob the frog is in on it.
