I have this tank that I got at Goodwill this summer(48in long x 14in wide x 22in high). I have done nothing with it other than create my backing this past July and its been sitting in my shop since. Today I made a decision, a last minute decision but that's how I roll, I tend to shoot from the hip and lick my wounds later. Anyway, I was setting this up for whatever frogs/toads I get this fall and then a light bulb went off in my head, why not separate/split the tank so I can have two different species in one tank. I got a piece of thin frosted plexi-glass and divided the tank, I put it in place with silicone and I'm waiting for it to dry now. The right side will house my new Milk Frogs that I purchased today from Mike and the left side will be for maybe some Darts. Keep in mind its not done yet but what are your thoughts? Will I have Frogs arguing through the glass. LOL
The thing with divided tanks is that there is a chance a pathogen could make it's way from one side to the other far easier than if in separate tanks. Also, divider should prevent frogs from seeing each other to reduce stress. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Hmmmmm, never thought about the whole pathogen thing, that's why I depend on you Carlos The divider is a frosted plastic, they wont be able to see frogs but maybe a silhouette or shadow, Ok so back to the drawing board.
You can reduce the risk by ensuring there is no gaps on divider edge Gary. Also, quarantine all frogs in separate enclosures prior to adding into divided tank .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Not to mention the differences in environments will present it's own challenges. Even split, it is still one tank.

If you do put a divider in, spray it with krylon fusion black spray paint. It's frog safe and keep the sides truly divided.

This is what I have decided to do (please see picture), I split the tank just until by boys get bigger as Mike suggested (smaller tank until they mature) then once they grow up and become big boys I plan to open the whole enclosure up to just my Milk Frogs, now...will I later be able to introduce a 4th Milk frog to my other 3, this tank once open fully is big enough to accommodate 4 Milk frogs very easy (4Lx16Wx24H. My Enclosures are never complete, I try to improve them with something everyday, Your thoughts are welcome please.
Very cool Gary!!
