Default First Pacman pics and tips

So this is my first pacman frog and I have done my fair share of research on how to raise these awesome little guys but I still have a couple of questions. Right now he is 1 1/2" and currently eating a steady diet of crickets. I've had him for a week and a half and was wondering when I should switch up the food items for variety. I have about enough crickets to last about a week longer and wanted to know if I should wait till then, or buy something sooner.

Other than that I think he is happy. Always keeps himself burrowed but I caught him sitting in his water dish last night and that was cute. Just wanted to show him off and ask for any advice on further cage setup as well.

Cage looks good. I'd moisten the soil a bit. These guys love to burrow. Maybe add a bit more soil as well.

As far as food that is up to you. You can always start now and be fine or wait. A varied diet is great for their nutrition. I always have a steady supply of worms, and crickets sitting around the house.

Welcome to the forum. Jeff's given you good advice. Your Pacman looks quite healthy and he is spoiled with room.

Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and poured a little spring water throughout the cage and mixed the soil up till it was nice and damp but not wet or swampy

As for soil depth I will wait till I have to change the substrate in 3 weeks to add more, don't like dealing with the mess it makes while mixing the stuff in a container lol.

Yea I realize its a bit much room for now so I put a small slice of apple kind near the corner he likes to bury himself in to lure crickets towards him. Can't wait till he is big enough for a pinky!

OK so new question so my pacman has been eating crickets on a normal basis without passing any up that wandered by. Now, after reading more info I've decided to switch to earthworms. Since the switch my frog has not eaten for about 3 days now and is only 1 1/2" So my question is should I let him continue to hunger until he finally eats a worm or break down an buy more crickets?

I'd buy more crickets. You can always keep trying, but if he won't eat them you can't starve him out to get him to eat.

Yea so I went ahead and bought more crickets and when I arrived home I discovered the little guy/girl sitting square in the middle of the cage so, believing it to be hungry, I decided to try a worm again. After 5 minutes of showing no interest in eating I gave up, dusted 4 crickets and dropped them in. The INSTANT they hit the dirt my frog went ape **** and wolfed them down in about a minute, so i dropped 4 more and and a few minutes later those were gone as well. Ive cut him off for the night but just wanted to report that he is indeed healthy and eating, but seems to suffer from the whole snotty kid gene and is rather picky about what I feed to it. I guess for now I shall dust and gutload crickets and try something else in the future.
