    Talking Lime and Lime/Red Photoshoots

So I have been very behind on my photo editing! Here are the photos for the last two of the frogs we got from Ivory Reptiles. Here are the photos of the "Lime" and "Lime/Red." (Neither of them were too thrilled about having their pictures taken!) As always, these pictures really don't capture how vibrant they look in person.

First up we have the Lime/Red. She is female and now the biggest of the seven we got from the Ivorys, measuring in a little over four inches. She is also a fatty! Her appetite hasn't slowed down at all so hopefully might grow even more. She certainly thinks she needs to eat EVERY night! As soon as it gets to be dinner time, she comes up to front of her enclosure, stares out, and waits. As soon as she sees me in the room, she starts pawing at the front of her home. She never jumps at the sides or hurts herself. She just makes enough noise to make sure she gets fed first! As soon as I open her home, she promptly hops into her water dish and sits patiently waiting for the worms. Once she has the worm in her mouth though, she almost always makes a mad dash for the back of her enclosure to eat her prize in peace. Then she comes back up the front and we start the process all over again.

    Here is her baby picture:

Now, in addition to being quite a bit bigger, her colors have changed quite beautifully. Her face and upper back are as red as the rubies, but the rest of her is a creamy, lemon yellow. Her sides are almost solid yellow. I love how the red ends so abruptly on her back!

Then we have the Lime. Although he was the biggest of the babies when we got them, he was a late bloomer and he is a little guy - barely 3.5 inches. He makes up for his small size by attempting to be the LOUDEST caller. And his little lungs are quite powerful! This makes Loki (our "alpha male" and previously undisputed loudest caller) very disgruntled. While he almost never bothers responding when the other males call, when the little upstart is singing he feels the need to out-do him. The result is a funny but loud sing-off!

He was not happy about the photoshoot and showed it by opening his mouth. He does this when he is trying to be threatening. But unlike most Pacs who follow that up with puffing up, hissing, and/or trying to bite, he just sits there opening and closing his mouth. As if to say, "If you don't stop it, I'm going to think about maybe biting you!!" But he is a little sweetie so he never does.

    Here is his baby pic:

He was almost all yellow with some lime green as a baby. Then at about four months old (over the space of two weeks) he suddenly changed colors and got a lot of red! Another example of how you never know exactly how these guys will turn out!
