I do that too and recently my two guys started not eating as much as they've done before. As they're from the wild, it seems they've been tricked by the days becoming shorter and have been on their way to hibernation and just slowed their metabolism.
So far I've taken them out on the bed or the table or my lap, to feed earth worms or the eventuel wax moth worm. But mostly I just leave crickets in their tanks. When they started feeding less, I got worried and tried putting them in a white, plastic washing-up bowl (or whatever it's called in english) and leave critters and naked snails there. However they freaked out and just concentrated on trying to get out of it, so I gave it up. Now I still leave crickets for them and when they dissappear, I know they've been eaten. Will go over to artificial plants, because the "left overs" chew the plants.
I heard some guy feeding his Cane Toads with home made, small sausages?
