forgive me, but i am jumping ahead. i'm all covered up and just have to build the false bottom, install the heater, then add soil (my own blend) to both the terrestrial and aquatic portions. then i will cover the aquatic soil with Fluval Plant Stratum and i should be ready to plant. of course, i'm not ordering any plants until this weekend, since they would get stuck over the weekend, but i do have some plants i can place in there this weekend
oh, and i think at least one of you is wondering why i left the tree fern panels rectangular, when it looks so unnatural? because once that wall grows in, you will never even notice

Actually, I have never used either until this tank. But I wanted the tree fern panels because things tend to grow from them. I thought it was bull when I read the package about plants spontaneously appearing if the panels stayed wet enough, but I took one and broke it up and sprinkled the pieces in strategic locations oft mantella tank, and sure enough, moss did grow from it. And I know it came from the panel pieces because I didn't plant that kind of moss in the tank. You won't get that from epiweb or any of the others.

I was just reading about the epiweb IIS. Looks good, but overpriced. They want $89 for a panel system that fits a 18x18x24. Of course, I couuuld get it, but it's so flat appearing. No depth in the pieces. I would like it if it had some shape...hills and valleys. Do you think hygrolon over ABG would provide a similar effect?

You can attach epiweb or hygrolon over foam to give it contour. If you're building an epiphitic branch, it would come in handy because you can wrap the branch in the stuff and it will attach itself to it very easily. Those 2 products are all dependent on your creative abilities.
