I'm sorry I haven't visited this forum for quite some time. I have been an active member of another forum that is directed more towards dart frogs. I just figured I would share some pictures of what's been going on with my tree frogs lately. I had them in a q/t container for quite some time as I was building my vivarium for them. It has finally finished and I put them inside about a month ago
They seem to enjoy it so far. The only thing I have left to hook up is my mistking. I am just waiting to drill the glass for it. Here are some pictures of the frogs
Well Thursday night I was hearing a lot of activity. A lot of calling and running around the tank. I haven't made the rain bar for the rain chamber yet because I wanted to give them some time to adapt but we have had a big storm sitting off the coast and it had been raining all day every day for the whole week. After hearing all the calling, I wanted to peek in there and see if I could see him call (I have never seen the call only heard it. Any time I flip the lights on to see it he stops :P) well when I peeked in there with a flashlight, I noticed the male chasing the female around and 5 minutes later he was on her back
I was very excited when I saw this. I had no intentions of breeding them yet but at least I knew I had a a good chance of them breeding once I threw in a rain chamber. The next morning I woke up to go to work and they were still in amplexus
Which was also nice to see. I was just hoping my female wasn't too stressed out by it. I went off to work and by the time I got home they had left me a present on the side of the glass
It was right above my big water feature so she picked the perfect spot.
I'm guessing I will do a water change (had some algae issues), and prepare it for tadpoles to drop. I don't want them to get stuck under the false bottom and have to tear the tank apart. Although it is screened and everything, you can never be too sure. I figure I have a better chance of not harming the eggs if I just leave them on the glass. Who knows, maybe they won't be fertile since there was no rain chamber.
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys the pictures and I will be sure to post more if they are fertile and start to develop. I am not sure what I will be doing with all these eggs. I counted somewhere around 65 total. I am still not positive on how to take care of these yet. I have seen a few breeding sheets but nothing with specific information on them. If anyone knows of a good one, I would love to have it. Even it the eggs aren't fertile it would still be good to add to my favorites for next time. Also, how often could I stimulate breeding in the tank without harming the frogs? I wouldn't want to over breed my female. Especially since she's already breeding without a rain chamber. But I guess this is a prime example that you CAN breed without a rain chamber. All you need is some high humidity and barometric pressure![]()
Hey Ryan,
How are you?
On the glass !!!!! Yikes !
Congrats on the A callidryas eggs!
Right ! What are you going to do with all those sweet little red eyes ?
And , yes........ they can breed without a rain chamber, but your water feature helped ....for sure !

Congratulations on the breeding and eggs!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thank you!
I have been doing good. How have you been? Not sure what to do about them being on the glass. They are over the water so it should be fine. Idk when I want to pull the tads. Not sure if my red eyes will eat them as froglets. And I am probably just going to sell them all for cheap to get rid of them and help people new to the hobby![]()

haha why is that funny?I don't mind starting people off with red eyes if they are new. My varadero have been breeding lately and any time friends ask me if they can have one, I make sure I inform them of EVERYTHING I require them to do to keep these frogs healthy and they quickly change their mind.
