My pet store carries feeders like crickets, horn worms, silk worms, butter worms, and I think that's it. As well as live fuzzies and frozen pinkies. Because its what's most often available, I usually feed my pacman and tomato frogs crickets. Occasionally giving them a horn worm. I'm told silk worms out of the 3 worms I mentioned are the most beneficial. But I don't know much about these feeders other than to give a variety. I was told by a person at the pet store that horn worms have a lot of nutrients in them for frogs and reptiles to benefit from but people at the herpcenter.com rated them lower on the feeder scale. I don't have access to roaches, which seem to be the best due to high meat/protein content. I'm interested in getting some of the pacman food either the samurai reptiles one of the zoo-med one. I can't even tell what's in samurai one cause its hard to find information on it. When I do find a little its of course in Japanese. Where is a good place to buy these? And how would you rate the feeders on protein/fat/general nutrition? thanks.
For Pacman and Tomato frogs would try feeding Canadian Night Crawlers (get un-dyed ones at bait shop). Earthworms are the perfect food for them and beat all other in nutritional value. If frogs are small can cut the worms from pointy end to same length as frog. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks Carlos. My father once dug up some earth worms where he lives near the ocean, on the edge of the city. But my room mate was worried of contaminants or parasites, mainly cause were within city limits, and suggested I shouldn't. What is the risk of earth worms self dug? Though I am looking to go to the bait shop.
