to be honest guys/girls.... the constant freakout over some of the smallest things are really getting to me. i am new to the forum but not to the pacman world. sure i baby my frogs too, but sometimes they just pass away. example: i recently picked up a suriname, fantasy, and an ornata. i keep all three in different kritter keepers in the same condition, came home sunday night and the ornata was dead. there really wasnt anything wrong or anything i could of done. so sometimes the frog doesnt want to eat, and sometimes it doesnt want to poop. leave them be, i am sure you wouldnt like food shoved in your face constantly, or everytime you took a bit longer to poop they throw you in a bath.....it's ok. you and your frog will survive.![]()
Unless you are the previously mentioned ornata.

Most people do freak out. Especially those new to these animals in general, but being overly cautious can be the difference between life and death. Your ornata possibly could not have been helped. If everything seemed fine and then it became a victim of SDS which sometimes cannot be explained.
For the most part it is better to ask if in doubt. Most of the time if something seems off it probably is.
I'm sorry about your ornata. I'd personally would rather freak out then lose a frog, I give mine baths if they don't poop and I offer food on a regular basis, if they choose to skip a meal, they can skip a meal, but if they skip meals more then once, I get worried.
so sorry for your loss.
as for freaking out lol i think I'm an expert by now! it is always always better to go over board then be sorry later, that is how i look at things now after everything that i had experience for the last few past years![]()
but seriously though for experienced keeper it is easy to distinguish a difference when a frog just not in mood to eat and when it is a problem, same with poops, and it is easy to act accordingly to fix an issue if it all possible.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
I had a mini freak out Lija, a few days ago. I was worried since my frog din'd poop for over 2 weeks, so I did a honey bath and while he was in there, did a side check... No hardness. I was confused and figured, no problem.
2 days later when flipping the substrate, I found what I was looking for.Substrate pooper.
to be honest i have no idea when my frogs poop, i never record dates on that or follow it up in any way, i look for frogs behavior and visual appearance. I do record their feeding and supplements used so not to mix anything up with a zoo like mine lol

Actually, I'd rather someone put me in a bath than let me die from toxing out...
I'm very vigilant with all my reptiles. It's no more freaking out than someone noticing when their dog or cat feels bad and taking them to a vet. I know all my reptiles; some can refuse food and sit still for months without me getting worried, but others can tong-flick a little slower than normal and I panic and think they're about to fall over dead.
