Try a peace lily. They survive in damn near any condition in my experience and their growth pattern is much more attractive than a pothos.
Pothos rotting is a strange thing, they'll grow in water as Bill has mentioned, and they'll grow just fine out of soil if it's humid enough.
What's a Pathos plant? The full Latin name please? Google is only turning up people misspelling Pothos, Epipremnum aureum. Or is that what you meant and if so why are you calling it deadly? (yes, pothos has calcium oxalate and shouldn't be eaten but it's pretty low on the toxicity scale and I've never seen anyone ever have a problem with frogs)

I could be wrong, I have never had any problems with my Golden Pothos and my pacman, but i do tong feed. Heart leaf philodendron, i heard mix reviews about this plant, but it is on the safe this plant list.
