More than preference, would decide between them based on space & enclosure available.

Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
well they can both go in a 10 gallon and they have similar tank needs other than the ADF needing a heater![]()
Hi,
I keep both species and bred ADFs twice. If I had to decide for one species- I´d have a real problemBoth are loveable with ADFs being more delicate, but if kept in good conditions (i.e. a nice group a well planted species-only tank with lots of hiding places and fed appropriately etc.), they´re just so much fun to watch
ACFs on the other hand are more active pets, relatively bold and they quickly become more or less tame. But I wouldn´t even consider keeping them in ten gallons- this is the absolute minimum for one frog, so you would miss their sociable, funny behaviour in groups. Plus, they love to move which isn´t possible in a volume that small.
Amphibians kept:
9.10.3 Hymenochirus boettgeri
2.4.0 Xenopus laevis
0.1.0 Hypselotriton orientalis
3.0.0 Hyloxalus azureiventris
4.1.0 Pipa parva
2.1.2 Bombina orientalis
1.0.0 Ceratophrys cranwelli
2.2.0 Bombina orientalis
You are right I can not choose and this is the only tank I can set up ... So I will not choose ... I have a third option :P

What's your 3rd option?

Well I've kept my ACF alive and well for almost two years, no health issues all fat and happy.
On the flip side, I was not able to keep the ADF I bought at Petsmart alive for two whole days (in a well established 20 gallon tank)!
I think I will stick with ACF.. they are bigger, more active, and become quite tame.
