My Red Eye Tree frog is a bit bloated. Usually his bloatedness from a large meal goes away, but this is different. Its very fleshy. The bloating is concentrated to his abdomen, not to his extremities. He also has no other symptoms (not lethargic, no discoloring, looks healthy otherwise) Definitely not his normal size at all. I noticed a few days ago and did a thorough cleaning of his cage and let go of all of his crickets and got fresh crickets (actually downsized to make digestion easier) and I also cleaned his cricket cage as well.
So everything is clean. I also added a bit more of the stress tap water conditioner into his mister. His humidity and heat are within normal levels. And have been before he became fat.
When handled, he looks healthy and acts healthy. His sleeping habits are normal, except the day I noticed the bloated belly I saw he was up. Since then (3 days ago) his sleeping habits have been normal.
He also has been eating.
I don't know whats wrong with him or if there is something I should be doing for him.
Also I am not 100% sure its a male, if that makes any difference.
PLEASE HELP!!
I've attached a picture of his big old buddah belly.
Hi,
What kind of substrate(s) do you have in the enclosure?
Have you found any poop in the past 2 days?
What temps are maintained in the enclosure?
What are you feeding the frog? Are you dusting the feeders with calcium powder
What size feeder is it?
Make sure he has de-chlorinated water to soak in every night.
Provide a - clean- shallow soaking dish (water should not be above his chin)
He needs to soak ! NOT TAP WATER! .
If you do not have amphibian safe water de-chlorinator-get it asap !
In the meantime use bottled 100% spring water from the supermarket.

Thank you for your reply,
Right now he is in a temporary tank, downsized from a 75 gallon terrarium down to the Exo Terra Glass Terrarium- 12 in. x 12 in. x 18 in. There is no substrate but paper towels since its temporary.
He has always had dechlorinated water.
Not a lot of poop.
The temps range from 77-85 (night vs day).
I have been feeding him large crickets. However with this I have switched to small crickets. I gut load the crickets with calcium drink and I feed them crushed up dog dry food.
He has a water dish that is shallow and I fill it every night when I mist him before bed.
He has since my post gone down in size a bit. Back to a normal size.
I'm just wondering what could make him blow up like he did so I can prevent any discomfort.
