    Hello there!

I spend a lot of time discussing "The Colony" which consists of 7 of my New Mexico Spadefoots (Spea multiplicata). Now that I have the time and they are all named, I thought I would share them with you. WARNING: on top of this being picture heavy, it will be sickeningly cute.

    Name: Aspartame (AKA Tamey)
    Gender: Female
Fun facts: She hates Snodgrass. She is always picking on him. She doesn't seem to like anybody in The Colony much, though. Also, she is the largest spadefoot living here.

    Name: Snodgrass (AKA Snoddy)
    Gender: Male
Fun Facts: He's a little wimpy, but full of love. He does not get along with Aspartame or Mr. Doctor Wiggles, but he has a special relationship with Precious. Despite being the runt, he has the largest appetite of all the spadefoots.

    Name: Fuggles
    Gender: Male
Fun Facts: He isn't all that social. He seems to get along with Mr. Doctor Wiggles the best, as they often burrow near one another. I also mistook him for a female when I first got him, until I saw him croaking with his distended throat. Oops :S

    Name: Precious
    Gender: Female
Fun Facts: It is impossible not to love this spadefoot. She loves nothing more than to be held (seriously!) She bonded with me instantly. She is also full of love in regards to The Colony, as she gets along with everyone...even the social outcast Snodgrass.

    Name: Lumpkin (AKA Lump-Lump)
    Gender: Male
Fun Facts: He has the most intricate designs on his back of all the toads. With one of the dopiest faces, it's hard to not love him instantly. He is most frequently found to be the loud croaker in the dish. He also seems to have a thing for Precious (love triangle?)

    Name: Bernardo
    Gender: Male
Fun Facts: He knew how to pose for his photo...oddly enough! He also has trouble with the ladies, as when he chooses to enter amplexus with them, he grabs just one leg. He also has trouble in the fact that he tends to grab only males. (Come on! I want to be a Grand Frog-mommy!)

Name: Mr. Doctor Wiggles (AKA Wiggles)
    Gender: Male
Fun Facts: He is very territorial. DO NOT BURROW IN HIS SPOT (unless you are Fuggles, in which case you get a pass)! He seems to hate Snodgrass because he made this fatal mistake. Also, he can be a pain sometimes because if he can, he will "wiggle" under the water dish.

Had fun reading your frogs descriptions Lindsay. Based on that, my favorite are Precious and Lumpkin !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thank you! I had fun writing about them. I love them all a lot, but I feel protective of Snodgrass because he is the runt. Sometimes I swear Precious gets jealous of the attention I give him. It's always fun to live with spadefoots I will have to do an updated with the mixed spadefoot cage (with Obdulia, The Impostor, Hat and Kaeru).
