    Default Expensive mistake

So my cat decided she enjoyed laying on top of my ACF's tank and once she found the hole in the back of the lid where the filter sits she thought it was a perfect drinking fountain. So for a quick fix we just laid a filed up towel over the opening. Problem solved...even bigger problem created... The towel dipped down and was touching the top of the filter, water wicked up the towel and the filter was slowly pumping water out of the tank via the towel. :banghead:

So roughly 5-6 gallons of water pumped out onto my floor and down into my neighbors ceiling before the issue was discovered and fixed. So now I have a cranky neighbor with a messed up ceiling, an annoyed landlord and a repair bill coming my way.

Such a wonderful Monday. I feel like an idiot:banghead:

Wow... bad kitty ! Repair bill is going to be painful and don't be surprised if landlord does not renew your lease. Good luck, you are going to need it !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Bill is definitely gonna suck, don't have to worry about the lease thing tho, I have a month to month lease if he wanted to kick me out for it he would have already told me I had 30 days. Luckily I'm one of his favorite tenants and one of the only ones he has that doesn't ever give him problems or make him chase them around for rent. We work for the same company and have always gotten along well. So I kinda lucked out there, I'm sure most other landlords wouldn't have handled the situation as nicely as he did.

    Sorry Mat,
    Join the crowd !
We all do things like this

How about this one. I do a weekly water change in my 90 gallon discus tank.
The dirty water gets siphoned out / the tubing goes through a closet down to the slop sink...in the basement.

The clean water then gets pumped back up using a gizmo call a 'python' attached to the faucet at the same slop sink.
Two adjustments need to be made to the python attachment during this process.

Once I forgot.....the 2nd part.......I went for a jog .....45 minutes later the basement was flooded!
The water filled the slop sink so fast the sump pump could not keep up. Gallons and gallon of water !

All that matters is the frogs are ok

Oh no that must have been an awful mess to clean up.

If it had drained all the way and I ended up finding her dried up and dying I would have felt horrible.

Another thing I got lucky with was that I had 2 big thick blankets under the tank from when I went camping the other weekend i had been putting off putting away and they ended up soaking up alot of water, so fingers crossed it's just mostly cosmetic damage and nothing to crazy to be fixed

$250 For the repairs. Sucks but could have been much worse, was originally quoted at 400
