Try to approach him by sliding your hand slowly on the tank wall towards him and watch out for bites!
Repeat this until you can take him with your hand without him trying to bite.

Use gloves and bring him out. Let him crawl around on you and he will eventually because used to you. Post some pics.

Are they fast and is it normal for them to be at the bottom of the tank so much when they're settling in

congrats on your tokay! you must be a very patient person!
always use gloves when you start out because they will lock their jaws and it is a pain to get them off
keep your handling sessions short and have a consistent handling schedule. I have seen what these guys look like when people ignore them and it is not pretty!
they are fast so you want to be in a room where they cannot get into any crevices or behind furniture. I have heard that it is sometimes a good idea to feed animals outside of their cage so they dont think its feeding time when you go to stick your hand in the cage.
they can bark so if he hasnt already then be prepared. it can be pretty loud at night. good luck!

Unfortunately like 80 percent of those who buy tokays on a limb I'm taking him back as he has turned out fast and aggressive and unhappy poor thing I feel sorry for him and I want him to have a owner who can stand the awful behaviour he is unervingly aggressive in fact no warning strikes are give just straight to lunge

80% of Tokay keepers don't return their tokays. Tokays are unhappy and aggressive, how's it a poor little thing?

You need to be more patiente its in a tokays nature to be agressive. They are a great example that herps are not like dogs but animals that are ment to be looked at to admire. Sort of like fish.
