Zuma has been hanging out directly under her heat lamp and not buried in dirt since Monday. She has also been refusing food since Monday and usually eats a least every other day. I checked on her today and her eyes were shut and her skin looked like dried school glue. I thought she might be trying to hibernate, since it is warm and dry directly under the lamp, so I put her in water. After she got out of the water, she immediately started shedding her skin. I watched her and tried to record it but the batteries on my recorder were deadNow, she looks much more bright and alert than she did prior to her bath.
I took this picture of her with her fresh new skin. Thankfully, she seems to be staying green as she becomes an adult. She pooped in the water so I'm going to offer food again tomorrow. I also moved the water dish to the spot directly under the heat lamp so that if she wants to hang out there, she has to do so getting wet. I figure I might also increase humidity this way. It is a pretty deep dish, about 1.5 inches tall so I'm not worried about drying it out. I moved the thermostat prob to the side for the heat lamp spot light now so that she can still get to a warm spot without getting in the water if she wants. Frogs are such funny creatures.
