I've been using garden earthworms for a few years. No chemicals in my garden either and I'm far from neighbours. Not all frogs will eat them due to taste. Young enough worms will be very thin and even your 1/2" froglets should be able to handle them without chopping, though thin enough worms can be hard to handle without accidentally splitting. Chopping up larger ones is fine if the froglets will still eat them.
