Should I give my pyxie full grown dubia roaches while hes still about 4 inches? im sure it will be fine because Ive seen people online feeding there babies good sized roaches. Just wondering if there's any risk to feeding dubias to small pyxies? Also what would be a nutritious gut load them? Thanks.
Although some places recommend cat and other high protein foods, got better luck with veggies and cereals (oats, cherios, etc.). If feeding veggies do replace daily and destroy any fly maggots. You do not want your roach bin infected with Phorid flies.
Would go with same size limits as for crickets, literally the distance between frog eyes. Once had an impacted Pacman due to feeding adult male dubias and frog was 3" SVL. Have read a member removes the males wings before feeding but haven't tried that yet. Lucky for me, the larger T's handle the big Dubia males now.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I think im going to go with veggies and oats. Those make me feel the fullest.... I want to say although roaches aren't aloud in Canada my frog is eventually going to exterminate my friends colony because he recently got rid of all his animals, Much better then releasing them. So really its getting rid of that colony in the safest way we can.
I like to feed my frogs the freshly molted dubias. They are nice and soft/squooshy and easy to digest.
