Big tanks are always superior to smaller tanks because the water parameters are just much more stable when you are dealing with a larger volume of water.
I've personally never had an issue with my african clawed frogs surfacing for air no matter what depth I've kept them at, from small froglets to adults. 75 gallon tanks are only 18" tall, I would drop the water level to 14" but only to prevent escapes and allow space to surface for air, these frogs are superb swimmers (and escapers!)
If you are able to add floating plants, they will enjoy basking in them too.
