Hey Guys,
Just thought I'd give you a little recipe for breeding fruitflies yourself....
1) Jar for the flies and media
2) Instant mashed potatoes
3) Some sugar (about a spoon full)
4) Water
5) Active dry yeast. (about 1/4 of a spoon full)
Heres what i did...
Added the instant mashed potatoes and water. Don't be shy with the water. It might look way to watery at first, but keep mixing and you will see how the potatoes dry up the water. It absorbs all of th water. You are going to want to mix it until you get a little bit of apple sauce texture. Then add some sugar and mix really good. Then a bit of active dry yeast (not the whole 1/4 of tablespoo) and mix it really good again. Then let it settle. It will expand and rise a lot. Then kind of hit the bottom of it to make everything compact together (or you will have air bubbles throughout the mix). Then ad a bit of sugar on top and the rest of the 1/4 active dry yeast and your flies......! and you are done.
I saw results in 3 days. With just once culture, It gave me enough flies to make 4 new ones. Crazy amount of flies. It was great
If you have any questions, just ask. I kinda rushed this as you can tell lol![]()
