Just adopted a leopard frog, a "Grow-a-frog" throw away(hate those kits). Need good setup that will not be too hard or too expensive to put together. The plan is to use 20 gal tall with 70% water, 30% land. would like to do land area along back instead of middle of tank. I do not want to use soil as that will make the filtration harder to deal with. Is there any way of just adding floating ledges or corkbark? Something that can be taken out so I can completely clean tank when needed? Any tips (photos would be awesome) Thanks, Harpy

The 20 gallon tall seems like a good idea but i would think the frog would be happier in a tank with a larger footprint because they arent totally aquatic, ive heard of people finding them close to a kilometer from water. For a 20 gallon tall you can use like mentioned, floating pieces of cork bark and/or commercial turtle docks but they can be homemade out of styrofoam covered in silicon. The leopard frog would also love aquatic plants.

Hello and welcome to FF! A 20L ($20 at PETCO until Sep 27) is a better tank to house your frog. Not using soil will prevent you from doing anything close to their natural environment. If you want to go all artificial can use basking platforms made for turtles (i.e. Zoo Meds Turtle Dock) and soft weighted artificial plants in the water area with no substrate and a canister filter rated at least 10X the actual water volume. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
