Frog pond is growing

Brought home my first fire-belly toads today and have the active trio in a 10-gal tank with temporary water container on one end and green outdoor carpet covering the rest of the bottom. There is a hide and a colorful plant added to this sparse tank. I have both tanks moved to a 2nd bedrm which is more consistent in ambient room temperature. My Dumpy frog will stay in the front room where I can enjoy him in the evenings catching crickets. I will post pictures later in my album.

Congratulations on your new additions. Bombina orientalis can be quite entertaining. I would at your soonest convenience, get them treated for gastrointestinal parasites, as most likely they were wild caught. Do this and your chances for success with this species will be that much greater.

Could I have the name of the medicine used to de-parasite frogs and toads? I don't want to appear too dumb when I go to the vet. And is there any med that is particularly dangerous for frogs?

I have added several pictures, quite unremarkable but at least an attempt. Is there a way to rotate two of the pictures so a viewer won't get a stiff neck looking at them?

The drugs are metronidazole and fenbendazole. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that also kills protazoan parasites. It is also know as Flagyl. Fenbendazole or Panacur kills worms. The margin for error is great for both drugs, so it is very hard to overdose with one of them.

These new little bombinas are providing a laugh a day. Seriously! I put a rather large size red wiggler on their substrate and one jumped and started swallowing it like spaghetti. A 2nd toad saw just the tail (or head) sticking out of the 1st toad's mouth and grabbed it. He began backing up and pulled the whole worm out. Then the worm just laid there between them. I'm not sure who ended up with the worm as the phone rang and I left the room.

These worms will actually burrow very quickly into the green plastic carpet and lay there just under the surface. I have found the easiest way to pick them out is with a kabob skewer with a pointed end.

I've had my fire bellies for just over a year now and I just love them. It was definitely a good investment. I have spent enough time watching them finding out each ones habits over the other and I find it so interesting. I hope you enjoy their company as much as I do.

I've only had mine 2 weeks, and they make me laugh every day. Tonight Stumpy (who has toes missing on one of his back legs, due to crickets eating them I'm told) was crawling back into his 'swimming pool', but unbeknown to him 'Katie' (the girlie frog) was just under where he was crawling in. She saw his little toes and wham - made a grab at them. Stumpy certainly changed his mind about diving in at the deep end. He was about to lose more toes.

I don't know if this is the right thread but what frogs or toads can I put in a pond I live in central sub urban England or does anyone know wphow I can get Frogs and Toads into my garden as they never come anymore
