    Default Fearless!

So couple days ago I'm at a local pet shop watching the darts being fed. Suddenly this tiny orange D. pumilio charges me. Then in couple hops he is at the door of it's enclosure and threatens me with it's mouth open ; then jumps back into substrate to catch flies. What appeared to be his larger mate was nearby feasting on FFs so maybe he felt the need to protect the female from me .

My friend stated had not seen it doing that before. Is it common for D. pumilio males to be territorial against humans?

Loved the little guy and wish to take it home (the possible pair) but think they are not dart beginner's frogs and the price was not easy either ($150 ea.) . Me and my taste has never matched my wallet .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Lynn and I thought the same before...that darts were difficult. Turns out, they're easier than red eyes and less temperamental than pacs, in most cases . Of course, I have all of the above and I think they're my easiest of all, as long as you provide the right husbandry, which we all know you can do .

I agree...go for it! You can build their tank while they're in quarantine .

Still thinking to set-up a dart vivarium and doing research on it ladies. BTW; just learned it's not D. pumilio but Oophaga pumilio. Their color morphs and reproductive behavior are very interesting .
