My first tree frog?

I have already read the " choosing a frog" which is what led me here Advice from owners would be great.

I am trying to choose my first frog. I would prefer a hands off pet that is fun to watch, How colorful does not matter to me. I would prefer arboreal and relatively small. I do not want anything that needs UVB or special heating or cooling ( a heat bulb or under tank heater is fine) I am willing to feed small crickets and pretty much whatever else our local pet store offers. I do have some amphibian experience, Tiger Salamander, Axolotl and Cyanurus.

I am also open to reptiles that suit these requirements.

I've only owned American Green Tree Frogs, I thought they were adorable! They only get o about 1.5 to 2" snout to vent. The biggest I had was about 1.5". I do use a UVB light with them, but it's more I turn it off and on and leave it at that. I like to have a heating pad under their water bowl and the two that I have love it as well. I'm not sure if you could only use that, but I also use a 50W heat lamp that sits on the top. I leave the Reptifogger on low and just make sure that the bottle is always full. I feed about 20 tiny crickets a day for 2 frogs. I like them to be full and satisfied.

Pretty much any of the native tree frogs would work for you. I've had Hyla chrysoscelis and Hyla cinerea which are both fun to watch, but they are nocturnal, so really only active after the sun goes down. No special lighting needed, but some of the natives like it a little more humid and temps a little warmer. No matter which frog you choose, just do tons of research and have your viv set up and growing for a few months before you acquire your frog. What ever one you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy with.

Nocturnal is fine. I just want to be sure to make the right choice As for letting it grow I am AWFUL with plants so I will be using silk. My neighbor had a baby grey for a few days ... Super cute little one. I already have to mist my sal, Adding another animal to mist is no big deal .

I always do tons of research but its a little easier when you have only 2-4 species to compare.

I suggest gray tree frogs. They are cool looking smaller and very hardy, being from New England they have very cute personalities

Seconding a Grey Treefrog. They grow to be extremely tame, mine even hops at me for food. If you're willing to wait until next summer, depending on where you live, you could catch a Grey Treefrog tadpole and raise it yourself. Breeding pools are extremely easy to find if you know where to look.
