    Default Are toads cannibalistic?

Are American toads and Fowler's Toads cannibalistic? Like, if I put my baby toad in with Lola or my gigantic Fowler's, will they eat the baby?

    Hello Logan,

I believe there is cannibalism ( especially w/ tads ) in the american toad (Bufo americanus) species , not sure about Fower's toad ( Anaxyrus fowleri / Bufo fowleri ).

If the there is a big difference in size ; the best rule of thumb would be not to put them together.

Plus , these are two different; both secreting toxins from the bumps on their back's to defend themselves from predators in the wild.

If one perceives the other as a predator 24/7 in small quarters ( even if the other's toxins are not harmful ? ) it could cause on-going ( 24/7) stress for the other toad.

Sounds like trouble to me ?

Toads will eat whatever they can get into their mouth. So if the little one is small enough, yes, they will try to eat it.

Alright. I wasn't really planning on putting them together until they get bigger.
