Can tarantulas be used as food for Pacmans? If so what would you need to do to prep the spider?
Seen a video of a pacman eating one on youtube. But you have to remember about the tarantulas defense, its hair. I don't know too much about them but I would believe that the hair would cause all sorts of irritation in the frogs insides. I would just keep it simple with the normal feeders and not risk anything.
Hairs are no danger unless launched, the real danger is the venom the tarantula can and will inject into the frog. Bad idea.
In the wild they can eat them, even in captivity. It's just a really high risk factor. I think it would be worse then feeding a live rat.
Ah ok cool didn't know. I learned the hard way when I was a kid about the tarantulas hairs. The itching was horrible.
my question would be why would you put your frog at risk of being bitten by the tarantula and dying a painful death? would it beneifit your frog? what's the advantage? is this for your entertainment purposes? you would have to removed the fangs of the tarantula, which would be cruel as well.
There's no reason to feed something that costs as much as a tarantula to a frog other than amusement. Which isn't a valid reason.

Yeah Dan, I handle my tarantulas on ocassion, if the hairs would burn on contact, I'd have noticed.I also had a really foul mooded smithi that kept launching hairs at me, those burned alot.
Sure, watching two predators battle it out can seem intresting. But in most cases, there is no winner. Especially when dealing with animals that are toxic, the pacman frog would most likely win, unless it's a goliath or a similar big one, but after eating, the pacman would succumb to the poison.
I've once seen a video of a goliath battling a scorpion and I found it rather sickening.
There is no reason to even consider feeding a tarantula to a horned frog. There are plenty of other feeders are safer, more nutritious, lower cost, and more readily available.
I did see a video of a someone who put a tarantula and a pacman together for their own amusement. It was completely sickening and disturbing. The tarantula bit the frog's eyes repeatedly and the whole time the person kept tapping on the glass to try to aggravate the spider more. Thankfully that video was removed for animal cruelty. But having seen how badly it could end, I implore you not to even consider doing that.
Why risk your frog and WHY HURT A TARANTULA!!! And if the spider bites the frog then its history.![]()
I think this question was just out of curiosity.
I'm certain in the wild if a Tarantula was to pass by a hungry Pacman it would most definitely attempt to eat it and if the spider is small enough surely succeed, but in captivity it is not wise. In the wild the eat what they must to survive. Captivity is in no way silimar and you provide what they need so that it isn't a fight for survival.
What species is your tarantula? Knowing that will help re-home it!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!

omg what a nasty thread. it seems you have no consideration for either of your pets and sounds like you get bored quite easily. I'd actualy suggest selling BOTH of these animals as they don't seem like "pets" to you.
I don't think this is a matter of time, it doesn't take long to take care of a tarantula. Insert food in container, remove the next day, spot clean if it has eaten. Clean every 6 months to a year, easyest pets around. I think your just bored of it.![]()
