Default Cooked feeders for your pixie.

After long debating i have decided to continue to feed my African Bullfrog "Mr. Pickles" wild animals in addition with all the normal feeders everyone can get from petstores. except now, after talking with all you and hearing GREAT feed back, i will cook them before feeding to eliminate all associated potential health problems. I still believe that a healthy wild animal is a very healthy animal! store bought feeders are still a huge health risk, make no mistake about it!!!

Here is my question, would you bowl or cook a feeder?

    YOU ALL ROCK!!!

If your gonna cook anything boil it. Most animals can't deal with char as well as humans do. You can also cook in mass as well with boiling. You can freeze the rest and stock up (it's what i do for my skink). Just remember freezing causes thiamine loss in the food product.

Why make multiple threads about the same thing, you feeding your frog wild animals. Like I've said on your other thread, I've fed 100s of mice and rats to my snakes (and know others that do the same) with only one that was questionable which was thrown out as I won't take the risk of making any of them ill. So how you can try claim captive bred feeders are a major risk is beyond me.

You said vets can cure parasites but why would you put your frog through the stress?

Glad you've taken advice and are going to cook the animals first, just kill them humanly. Broken neck or a swift bang on the head against the work top, sounds brutal but at least it's quick. That's another plus for buying from a breader, they are killed by gas so very quiet peaceful death

3.0 Cats - Monty, Dodger and Crunchie
1.1 Royal Pythons Orlina and Sedrick
    0.1 BCI Boa - Aasia
    1.0 Western Hognose - Hagrid
    0.1 Bearded Dragon - iiara

This is going to help owners like me who think more diversity is better for the health of the frog. I was thinking last night about this and what if i wrap the feeder in tin foil and grill it? that way no charing.

Boiling the meat will make it more tender and probably easier to digest
