So I fed Boxxie his/her first mouse. It was a frozen adult that it ate with gusto. It's been two days now and the frog has had a BM composed mainly of reddish-brown fur. The mouse was white is this normal stool for a frog that just ate a mouse?
NOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Don't feed it a frozen one, they're supposed to be defrosted!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
store bought feeders do have diseases you know, just because you bought it from a store does NOT mean it is safe.
if you are using coco fiber bedding the dies of it makes all your frogs poos a brownish redish color.
Nothing will ever be truly safe. That's why as a pet owner we try to do everything right to keep our pets healthy so when they suffer for our mistakes or accidents they'll fair better.
And thank you for the dye advice. It makes more sense now. The good part is I only have to worry about this once a month anyways.
Grif, I am speaking facts! People are sleep walking if they think store bought is totally safe. I am just waking them up. Alot of people have had "mystery" diseases pop up and not know what or how it could happen. It is the store bought feeder that you fed your pet is what happened. They are a definite way higher risk than people think. ask any herp vet. If i am going to take a risk, i want to know about it first.
Berserkape, If you want to expand your frogs diet and dont want to have to big of a risk, it will take YOU finding the healthy wild critters to feed. the risk is way lower than what some may say. these frogs were made for diversity. in the wild they eat both healthy and sickly critters. I will only feed healthy in captivity. if you feed sickly wild animals there is a much higher risk but that is totally up to you. If you want a old healthy frog you better start diversifying its diet soon. worms and insects as a main staple is a bad idea if you want a deep colored healthy long life out of these frogs. time will show that i am right.
Oh and your welcome for the color thing. now that you know it doesnt it make common sense? i wish people would see the common sense i am giving for their frogs diet, for their frogs sake. Keep rockin!!! (:
Wow.... this guy is in every thread misinforming people with his stubborn ideas.
Matt no one here agrees with your methods so if you think it's working out for your frog, then good for you but stop giving bad advise please. You are taking VERY unnecessary risks and I'm surprised a doctor would even do something like that.
You are overexposing your frog's health to possible dangerous diseases and threats that could cost your frog's life just to "boost" his immune system which is pointless because an AGBF living in your living room will never come NEAR any of these conditions.
