New setup - "Paludarium style"

Hello FF, ive decided with the 20 gallon tank i have, I'll plan to build a paludarium for my FBT. The Land to water ratio will be 60 water/40 land Ill keep you guys posted!


This is the 20 gallon long (30" x 12" x 12")
with the bark already siliconed in.

I didnt cut the bark to well and so i sprayed some
great stuff in the gap and pressed some other cork
pieces and siliconed over the GS to make the foam
look like a rock

Started building more into the viv! I added some pebble
drainage layer and some cocoanut husk fiber on top, ill
be adding plants soon.

Im planning on adding some anubias on the shoreline (ill need the humidity up for these
guys!) and some pepperomia, pothos and spider plants on land. Im still testing the tank
for leaks and so far they are all over despite the three layers of silicone . Im planning
on Maybe taking apart the land section and adding some great stuff foam behind the
cork to re-enforce the water to land barrier. Sorry for the wait!

That sucks, that's why I do full false bottoms vs. separating land and terrestrial sections. You'll get it worked out, I have faith!! Lol

well... Ive had it, the silicon layers are starting to pile up and the great stuff foam has not stopped the water I may just scrap the "Paludarium style" build for now and make another for possibly other bombinoids. Im still going to build the 20 gallon but it will not be the same. Im still just as excited and hope for a great build

ryan, your best bet is to remove all the silicone and start from scratch. silicone will bond to almost anything, the exception being, unfortunately, previously cured silicone. you can layer it all you like, but it will never bond and seal

Hello again! Ive removed the silicon successfully and have created a dirted tank for the toads, I will be adding pictures soon!

Ive finally got the pics! ive used potting soil covered in sand and used a variety of plants, Crypts, Water whisteria, Java fern, java moss, amazon sword and amazon frogbit. By no means is the Paludarium ready. Ill be adding driftwood in the back in a few weeks after the plants have settled into their environments and hope the Frogbit multiplies
