It's not sand. It's multivitamin powder which got wet from some slimy earthworms.

FYI coconut fiber does have some sand in it either as filler or debris from part of the grinding process.

It was a struggle to restrain him but I did it as gently as I could.

Does it look red or irritated?

Are they hard or soft and are they equal in diameter?

It's not red and is the same colour as all his other skin. It isn't hard like a rock but isn't soft like his skin. I can't describe its feel very well.
