Fantasy frog baby problem.

Well, I am an idiot. I missed the unflavored part. Before I saw the last message I soaked him for 20 min in 10% fruit punch flavor in the "filtered water" so apparently still with chlorine, ugh. He did seem to perk up for a bit and I think he took some in. I dont have the reptaboost yet but offered up a piece of night crawler to no avail. Now he looks worse than ever. I hope I did not kill him with the flavored pedialyte I have the seachem prime here but how on earth do you treat these tiny amounts of water with it?

Do you have an eye dropper? 1 ml. of Prime will treat 10 gal of water; 1/10 ml. will treat 1 gal. So we calculate... brrrrrrr (brain calculating) caching : 4 drops per gallon or 1 drop per litter .

Now you need to setup a hospital tank! This is very bad!

You will need to take the frog to a Vet that treats herps, but for now you can treat the wounds with Original Neosporin WITHOUT PAIN KILLER. Don't get that wrong. The pain killer will kill the frog so make sure the Neosporin is plain.

You can also buy some Melafix which is a fish antibiotic. Buy regular strength. Make a bath of 80° DECHLORINATED WATER that is only deep enough to cover half of the frog or up to the frogs chin. You can mix the antibiotic solution first then pour the solution into whatever you wish to soak the frog in. The mixture is for every 16 ounces of DECHLORINATED WATER add 1 drop of Melafix. Soak the frog for 20 to 30 minutes then return the frog to its hospital tank. Change the paper towels daily to keep the infection from spreading. Disinfect the tank everyday to every other day and no less.

This may be to much for you to handle without the assistance of a Vet. He will need perscription antibiotics if he is to survive. Its a harsh reality, but sometimes you just can't cure them without help.

Well, it looks like I killed him with the pedialyte or he was ready to expire on his own. After the bath and noticing the spots I did put him on moistened paper towel and went running. When I came back he was dead

I want to thank you all for the great advice. I will take it all to heart for the other frogs and any future frogs. I will be changing their substrate today with the treated water.

Thank you for the conversion. I will treat up a gallon at a time or so and keep in in there. That way I will always have it at the ready for my other frogs.

I'm sorry for your loss. Be sure to change out everyones substrate and water with treated water.

Makes sure you disinfect everything to prevent this from spreading to your other animals.

Sorry for the baby frog death; it was a cutie . The CL on water slowly did poisoned him and as you say; the fruit punch bath gave it the final push to death. Time to first work on the other frogs and then sterilize his enclosure.

Don't stress too much; I've accidentally killed a few of my pets. Last was my 2 year old blue crayfish, when moved it to a bigger tank, and added a larger clay pot. The clay pot had been in a fish tank a year before, which had been treated with meds toxic to inverts. Back in water the meds leached out and in couple day he was dead. Took me a while to figure out what went wrong then went .

Sorry for your loss. Could have happend to anyone, I recently forgot to treat my big girls substrate water aswell, fortunately I noticed when she was banging against the curver side trying to get out.
I've also lost one of my pets due to fault of my own before, my avicularia passed because I accidently hit him with a spray of water, he became lethargic and past a few days later.
But we all learn from our mistakes, I always avoid animals while misting now, besides my froggies, they seem to love it.
