    Default Temp questions.

I have changed my pacs setup and he no longer has a heat mat. Does this matter if the air temp is ok. Also what is the maximum temp the air should be? I am going to get a lower wattage bulb because its just lower than 31 degrees Celsius or 87 farrenhite and i think this is a bit hot.

I have only ever used heat mats before to heat the substrate and never air heaters like I am now.

Yes that is a little too hot. You have three options but I recommend two.
    1. Hygrotherm 40 dollars- awesome
    2. Dimmer 10 dollars- dial in perfect heat. But hard to find perfect temps and require constant adjusting.

    3. Lower wattage bulb. Bulbs should be no higher than 50 watts. Still might not give the temps you are looking for.

I don't recommend heating the substrate. They use burrowing to thermoregulate. So if the frog gets too hot it will dig deeper. If the substrate is warmed up, they wont be able to cool down and might just might overheat.

Temps should be 82-84 degrees during the day, and 77-78 at night.

40$ for a hygrotherm over there? Jeez, I'm getting scammed here. The cheapest ones around here, from an online store are 141.33$, shipping not included. >_>'

Now that I know how easy the hygrotherms make life, I would honestly pay double what they cost here in the states.amazon.com they are 40 dollars. But at the pet stores they are a 100 dollars.

Amazon is still a high price for me, cheap ones don't seem to send overseas.

I will get a lower wattage bulb. The one I was using was actually 40 watts but there are still 25 and 15 to try yet which will hopefully bring the temp to the right level. I'm getting the bulb tomorrow. Do you think I should leave the too hot bulb on for today or just turn it off until I get the new one?

My frog keeps getting up at night, hopping round the cage and jumping at the glass. Is this normal?

Could be a sign of a dirty enclosure. Does it look like he is trying to escape? When was the last time you cleaned it? Check for buried poop.

They have increased the price of lot's of pet products including the Hygrotherms (currently $60). EBay (link will expire when bid closes) has one offered for $50 with free shipping in USA and International availability. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
