    Default Frog may be sick?

Hello, I believe my red eyed tree frog is sick. I've cleaned his terrarium out, and have laid out some paper towel. I did take a picture last night of him, and thought I would post a picture for you to see. The neon green spots started out small, and then started to turn out into splotches. He is still eating, and moves about in the his home but it is not normal for him to be sleeping on the floor. He did the night before manage to sleep on the wall instead of on the floor but he is back on the floor sleeping. I have had him for a at least 2 almost 3 years now and this is the first that anything like this has happened.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

maybe bacterial infection? neosporin might help on the blisters. make sure not to use anything but the original, and no iodine

I didn't think they were considered blisters, what makes you think they are blisters?

The neosporin ( WITHOUT PAIN RELIEVER) is a good start.
The pain reliever ( the anesthetic ) in the neo will kill your frog
However, he needs more than that.
He needs herp vet. Or the recommendations for the use of any antibiotics you may keep on hand.

Use a clean q-tip - while he is sleeping- to get a little - neo- on every spot

If you do not have a herp vet. You can send this photo and an email to Dr Frye. He will help your frog
    http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...-prepared.html

He can send you medication via USPS or UPS.

In the mean time....continue to keep him in the quarantine setting, if he is alone.
If he is not alone -- he should be separated from tank mates.

Keep things as clean as possible!

Let the vet know about any tank mate(s) , as it's likely they will need to be treated as well.

    Hope this helps, Lynn

IMO those spots either indicate a skin irritation that clears itself (frogs acts normal), or accompany something more serious (other health or abnormal behaviors).

Think Lynn's recommendation for a veterinary visit is good. Have you cleaned cage or surrounding areas with new products lately? Anything changed in enclosure or have new frogs been added? Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

    Default Frog may be sick?

I too, agree. My guess is bacterial infection, as I have seen and treated similar looking spots in my adoptees.

Have there been any new stresses? New frogs added? New plants? Things changed around? Substrates?

Being he was well and now not, it sounds as though something was introduced into the tank?

Tree frogs laying on the ground can be a sign of dehydration or illness, or both. Is he/she acting weak or lethargic? How about your temps and humidity in the tank?

Some of my frogs were treated with Metronidizole and healed fine. A few sicker ones needed both Metronidizole and Baytril. Both are prescribed by a vet. I did also apply Silversulfadiazene cream to each spot, as per Dr. Frye. He is my vet also. They are all alive and well.

It is good that he is still eating. If you get him treated quickly he may do well.

    Will you keep us updated?
